Rules of Entry

Mace & Jones Short Story Competition

1. The theme of the short story is "Justice".
2. The fee is £10 per entry. All entry fees will be donated to a local charity supported by Mace & Jones i.e. Local Solutions.
3. Open to entrants of any age and both published and non published authors.
4. One entry per person. Short stories must be no longer than 3,000 words, must be typed, indented, double-spaced and in Times New Roman font size 12. Entries should be in English. (If sending electronically, entries must be in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat PDF).Entries can be submitted by Email via Mace & Jones' website or by standard post to: Samantha Kinnear, Mace & Jones, Drury House, 19 Water Street, Liverpool L2 0RP. Cheques and Postal Orders should be made payable to Mace & Jones. If you require notification of receipt of entry, please include a self addressed postcard with all postal entries.
5. All entries must contain the following information: author's name, address and contact details. Please also state where you heard about this competition.
6. Entries cannot be returned to entrants so please retain a copy.
7. Entries that do not comply with the rules will be disqualified and entry fees will not be returned.
8. Copyright remains with the author but it is a condition of entry that Mace & Jones retains the right to reproduce winning stories without charge for six months after the announcement of winners.
9. Current employees of Mace & Jones, Artemis or Chris High are not eligible to enter the competition. The judging panel will be chaired by Martin Edwards. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
10. Closing date is 31^st August 2008.
11. Prizes: First prize £500, Second Prize £250, Third Prize £150 and Fourth Prize £100. No alternative prizes will be offered.
12. All successful entrants will be notified in November 2008.
