RSS News Feed

What is RSS?

You may have noticed the orange RSS logo on our website and other websites, indicating that RSS feeds are available. These feeds allow subscribers to see when new content is added. RSS feeds are used on many websites, and popular subjects include all types of news, events information, blog entries, new products added to online shops, auction site searches, cinema listings, weather forecasts and many more.

Mace and Jones are pleased to offer RSS feeds. By subscribing to our free RSS News and Events feeds, we will automatically keep you up to date with our latest news and forthcoming events so you need never miss out.

How Do I Use RSS?

RSS feeds are very easy to set up and use and don't require additional software. The latest versions of the most popular web browsers Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, FireFox, Opera and Safari now include RSS Readers as standard.

If a web page has an RSS feed available, it is indicated by an orange RSS symbol on the browser toolbar in Internet Explorer 7, by an orange RSS symbol in the address bar in Firefox, an orange RSS symbol in the address bar in Opera, and by a blue RSS logo in the address bar in Safari. Clicking on the RSS symbol in any of these browsers will explain how to subscribe to the feed.

If you prefer, you can use a separate application which download RSS feeds to your computer, so that they can be viewed even if you are not connected to the internet. RSS Reader, NewsGator, FeedReader for PC, NewsFireRSS for Mac OSX and Liferea for Linux are popular RSS news reader applications.

Alternatively, personalised web based accounts such as iGoogle and My Yahoo allow you to add RSS feeds by entering the address of the RSS feed, such as http://www.maceandjones.co.uk/rss rather than by clicking on an RSS icon. Once logged into your account, you can view the latest news and updated sites via RSS feeds, from any computer connected to the internet.
