Martin was previously Head of Contract Services at the University of Manchester.

Principally he provided advice to maximise returns and manage risk in the University's dealings with outside bodies in a range of service delivery contracts and procurements, along with legal services on estates, employment, regulatory and compliance issues.

The range of contracts included agreements for the sale of services, Sale of Goods, Non-Disclosure Agreements, IP licences, Procurements, creation of Consortia, Framework Agreements, Loan Agreements, Collaborations, MoU's, MTA's etc. as well as regulatory work around vires issues and complex procurements subject to the EU rules on public and quasi-public sector tendering and supplier selection.

Martin was instrumental in the creation and review of a range of key regulatory and governance arrangements. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

Outside of work Martin is a keen scuba diver and enjoys fly fishing.
