Management changes at Mace & Jones

Changes at the top of leading North West law firm Mace & Jones will promote 40-year-old litigation specialist Richard Corran to Managing Partner.

Richard will shortly replace Lawrence Downey who has spent 16 years in the role. Current senior partner Graeme Jump, based in the firm's Manchester office, will also step down.

The changes, which take effect from 1 November, are part of the firm's business development strategy, bringing fresh blood to Senior Management within the firm whilst retaining existing experience and contacts.

Richard Corran said: "I am very proud to have been asked to take on the mantle of Managing Partner of Mace & Jones. This is a very special law firm; one which has its own unique culture in client management and the well being of everyone working for it. We have grown both organically and through the recruitment of certain senior people and I am very excited about the future of the firm. My role is to make sure we continue on the path of solid growth and dynamic development."

For Graeme Jump the change will mean a return to working full time with clients, while continuing to promote the firm in Manchester. "Our plans have ensured a smooth succession in the management of the firm while for me personally, I will relish the opportunity to spend more time with clients and to continue to develop our services, particularly in my specialisms of insolvency and professional partnerships."

Lawrence Downey will continue to be closely involved with the development of the practice, and will offer himself for election as senior partner. He said: "After 16 years I am delighted to hand over the role of Managing Partner to Richard. He has all the qualities required for the role and I know Richard will take the firm forward with enthusiasm, energy and success."

It also has a private client team regarded as among the best in the region.
