Lawrence qualified in 1973 having trained with Mace & Jones. He was appointed as an equity partner in 1976, and from 1990 to 2007 was the Managing Partner of the firm.

Throughout his time with the firm Lawrence has advised clients on a wide range of business law, including corporate and commercial, property and pensions. More recently he has developed an interest in the third sector (not for profit and charities).

Lawrence continues to devote much of his time to management, supporting the current Managing Partner, and to the development of the firm's business.

He is a member of the Law Society and Institute of Directors, and holds a number of company directorships. His personal interests include family, sport, walking, music, theatre and travel.
