Edward's Liverpool crime thriller out in paperback
Published: 8th September 2008
North West lawyer and crime fiction author Martin Edwards sees his latest book 'Waterloo Sunset' published in paperback this month by Allison & Busby.
'Waterloo Sunset' features the return of Edward's celebrated Harry Devlin character, a lawyer turned unlikely detective hero in what has been described as a 'tense atmospheric thriller'. Set in Liverpool, as it prepares for Capital of Culture, Devlin finds his life being threatened as he tracks down what seems to be a serial killer on the loose.
Waterloo Sunset is Edward's 12th crime fiction novel and eighth to feature Harry Devlin.
"My aim has always been to evoke a real sense of Merseyside life in the Devlin books in the same way that Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus series brings Edinburgh to life," he said.
2008 has been a memorable year for the North West author. Edwards won the Crime Writers Association short story of the year at its annual 'Daggers' awards ceremony beating off internationally renowned writers such as Michael Connelly. In his legal career Edward's has announced that Mace & Jones employment team, which he heads, has been appointed by the Football Association. Mace & Jones will act as the FA's external advisers on employment law until 31st May 2010 and will also advise on employment matters relating to Wembley Stadium, the National Football Centre, and the World Cup 2018 bid.
