Work Experience

We understand the importance of work experience at all stages of academic study and here at Mace & Jones we are very pleased to be able to offer a varied range of placement opportunities.

We have direct links with the Greenbank Routeways to Employment programme offering work experience to students with physical and/or learning disabilities and with the Manchester University Pathways to Law Programme.

School work experience placements

We take our responsibilities for safeguarding young people very seriously and offer placements to school students as part of their school's designated work placement scheme.

Students have an opportunity to experience a number of aspects of life in a law firm - for example: general administration, marketing, training, library research and shadowing a trainee solicitor.

Application letters should give a short summary of your interests and ambitions and the dates your school is operating the placement scheme. They should be addressed to Jeanne Andrew, HR Officer, Drury House, 19 Water Street, Liverpool, L2 0RP or by email to jeanne.andrew@maceandjones.co.uk. If your application is successful you will be asked for supporting documentation from your school.

Vacation Placements

University undergraduates, LPC and GDL students can also experience a taste of work and life at Mace & Jones by joining our summer vacation placement scheme.

To widen the availability of vacation placements in 2010, we are offering the opportunity to spend three weeks working directly alongside our own trainee solicitors who will act as your 'buddy' for the duration of the placement. You will also have the benefit of additional training sessions from some of our own in-house experts so you go away with a true insight into the world of work at Mace & Jones.

We do not use our vacation placement scheme as a precursor to a training contract as applications are processed independently of each other. If you wish to be considered for a vacation placement you should complete the on-line application form.

Placement dates for 2010 are three weeks between 28 June to 16 July; 19 July to 6 August; 9 August to 27 August in either our Liverpool or Manchester office.

Closing date for applications is 30 April 2010.

You should clearly state which session(s) you are applying for and ensure you will be available for the full three week period.
